Community Development (RCD) at the Rural Extension Centre(REC), University

Robyn Mobbs The Rural Extension Centre(REC) was established in 1993 at the Gatton campus
of the University of Queensland which is a small rural campus located between
Brisbane and Toowoomba on the Darling Downs. It is funded by the Department
of Primary Industries Queensland and the University of Queensland. The REC has
specialized in extension training based on Kolb's learning cycle. Recently,
an appointment was made in the area of rural community development. In this
paper, an account is given of the setting up of rural community development
at the REC.
