Mary Lyle This paper follows the steps taken by a group involved in the Australian Student
Training Foundation program, Tablelands School, Industry Links.
Our Vision is to grow as a community owned partnership that is nationally
recognised as a centre of excellence.
Our Purpose is to provide students with quality vocational workplace learning
pathways to meaningful work
The group has representation from State High Schools and one private school,
employer groups, training providers, principals, local government parents and
vocational education teachers.
With the need to become self sustaining we have gone through a comprehensive
consultation to encourage ownership of the program by all customers ie. students,
industry, employers, schools, training providers and parents.
The Australian Student Training Foundation is asking these groups to extend
their focus to rural and remote communities, aboriginal and islander groups
and students with learning difficulties. We as a group are dealing with these
issues and are exploring different avenues to improve the outcomes for these
groups.
This paper would show the methods that we worked through and intended outcomes
of the project. If there was interest in the method, a workshop on this process
could be presented.
